32 fun Christmas activities for you to create your own Advent Calendar!

When I think about Christmas as a kid, it’s not the presents I remember (apart from the hula hoop that was wrapped up under my grandparents tree one year!).

My memories are playing Christmas music while we decorated the tree, and re-remembering all the decorations each year. Visiting the Christmas lights and choosing our favourites. Going to carols by candlelight and the Santa Parade. Christmas lunches at Nana’s house.

Now that I’m a parent, Christmas is about bringing our children into traditions, and creating our own memories as a family. It’s about the whole season being about taking time, doing things with each other and for each other – not JUST about presents!

It’s the special things that are Christmas-time things that make this season so great. The things we don’t necessarily do any other time, but we always do at Christmas. The memories and nostalgia connect us to our families, and our journey of growing up.

Every family has different traditions. So I’ve pulled together 32 simple, fun, low cost Christmas activities. Mix and match them, and use them to create your own family calendar!

Have fun! And let me know – what traditions or activities would you add to the list?
